Meet the Maker

My name is Anna Severe, I started doing leather work when I was 13. I had a pretend shop in an old smoke filled trailer that one of my dad’s hired men once lived in. In High School I had the opportunity to have a job shadowing class. I decided to shadow George Martin and Kelly Martin. I loved the leather work, and they liked to tease me but hey they gave everyone a hard time. There they let me try making belts, chinks, and even a pair of boots. They gave me a great desire to know what I wanted to do in life.

I went to college and continued to make small leather projects, soon I met my amazing husband, who introduced me to his Uncle Bob Severe. Which led to an internship with Bob and Suzett to make saddles. It was a big jump from what I was doing. I loved the challenge of making saddles, getting leather to mold and form. I have always had a small shop in our home. I enjoy being able to work and have my kids around me when they are home. We live on a ranch where my husband test my leather work out.

When I am not in my shop I am helping with the cattle, watching basketball games, and enjoying time with my husband and kids
